Microsoft SQLServer Standard and
Enterprise®
SQL Server is Microsoft's fully Web-enabled database
product, providing core support for XML and the ability to
query across the Internet and beyond the firewall. Microsoft
offers both Standard and Enterprise editions with latter supporting
distributed processing across 32 CPUs and 64GB of RAM. Leasing
can be based on CPU or SAL (per-seat) license options. Select
a CPU-based lease for applications accessed by an unlimited
number of users, Internet visitors, etc. A SAL-based lease
is appropriate for small, intranet applications with a small
number of attached devices. For instance, a SAL is required
for a device (for example, a personal computer, workstation,
terminal, personal digital assistant, or mobile phone) to
access or use the services or functionality of either edition
of SQL Server.
