Thruport Acquires AppRack Hosting Business:
Deal Expands Thruport's Managed Hosting Customer Base In Sun
Hosting Segment
Alexandria, VA, August 5, 2002 -- Thruport
Technologies' Managed Hosting division today announced it
has acquired the assets of AppRack, LLC, a respected regional
provider of dedicated hosting services. AppRack has focused
on the Sun and Linux platforms and brings a number of local
and national enterprise clients to Thruport's growing Managed
Hosting division. As part of the transaction, AppRack and
its principals will become non-exclusive agents for Thruport's
broad range of hosted services, primarily serving the mid-Atlantic
region.
"The combination with AppRack was a
logical move for Thruport," stated John Shomaker, Thruport's
VP, Corporate Development. "Thruport has provided the hosting
infrastructure for AppRack since its inception more than two
years ago. The deal enables Thruport to expand its customer
base and Sun expertise, while at the same time allowing AppRack
to grow its sales network."
According to Shomaker, Thruport's Managed
Hosting division is growing 20% month-to-month, even in the
current economic climate, and the privately-held company carries
no debt. "Thruport's management team has been involved in
hosting since 1994. We've seen the business models come and
go, and continue to hold that service is the key to steady,
profitable growth. Clearly, the continued demand we've experienced
from enterprises is, in part, due to their concern over failing
or financially-troubled providers. We solve that problem and
are prepared to work with the most demanding technology environments."
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
